Motion detection only working on one camera.

Hi. I recently had installed a 5 camera setup with a Dahua NVR.

1x TIOC Advanced 2.0 DH-IPC-HDW3849HP-AS-PV-0280B-S3
4x DH-IPC-HDW3641EM-AS-0280B-AUS 6MP Eyeball
1x NVR - Dahua DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-4KS2/L 8 Channel

I have set the recording schedule to record general and motion for all cameras. I have enabled motion detection for all cameras and made sure they are being recorded on their respective channels.
I have also boosted sensitivity to 90 and threshold to zero on all 5 cameras.
With the TIOC camera I have a trip wire set up but not with the other 4 cameras.

Despite following all the instructions and reading many posts I can only get the TIOC camera to record and send notifications of motion through the DMSS app.
The other 4 cameras do not record motion and therefore no notifications are sent.
All 5 cameras are recording general with excellent picture but only the TIOC camera annotates for the motion on the video feed.
Is it possible to have all 5 cameras record and send notifications of motion?

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

^^^^^^^
Thats the key I think

1- Make sure they are set to record on the record schedule
2- make sure the Motion Detection is enabled on the camera AND the NVR

Old firmware, but should be very similar

Thanks bigredfish. I think I have checked 3 of the 4 screens you have shown. But can you explain this one as I have not seen it before.

Also called Record Mode. Its a setting under Storage on the NVR to set which cameras record which streams. If your cams are recording full time, they're probably set right

Are you accessing the NVR directly with a PC using its web interface? Same with cameras, direct to the cameras through the NVR?

Yes they do. If you are accessing the cameras direct you should see that in their interface..?

yes i see that. However, when I try and configure for SMD it comes back with and error that this "configuration is not supported"
I was wondering if there is a conflict somewhere that you cant have motion detection and SMD at the same time with the camera.
Thanks for you responses BTW

Yes, you MUST have MD on to use SMD. SMD is dependent on MD, they work together

I have checked everything once again and yet the motion detection on the 4 cameras is still not working. Should I check they are running on the latest firm ware? I only had them installed 2 weeks ago

Are you basing the "MD not working" solely on alerts to the DMSS app?

Do you have or can you install SmartPSS on a PC to view recorded footage and see if MD events are showing on the timeline? Or for that matter on the NVR Playback screen?

SmartPSS- Event (MD and IVS) hash marks on playback timeline (Yellow MD, Red IVS Tripwire)

The yellow MD events are not showing up on the timeline of the video feed on the NVR timeline for the 4 cameras. This I assume is why I am not getting alerts to the MDSS app.
The yellow MD events are showing up for the single TIOC camera though as are the DMSS notifications

So last thing and Im out of ideas.

Show us a screengrab of your camera MD settings (2 actually one with the area defined and one with settings)
Then the same for the NVR intrerface

All look ok.

Last thing I'd check is something messing with the stream.

On the cameras, under Camera/Video, make sure you are not using Smart Codec, use h.264 or h.264H, and make sure ROI isnt enabled.

Assume your bitrate is something at least 4096 and better 8192 or even higher.

So what I have done is activated smart plan and trip wire rules for all the camera's. This now sends notifications to DMSS when someone crosses the trip wire.

However what still remains blocked is SMD for camera's 2-4.
SMD is allowed on camera 1 but not the other 4 cameras
Under alarm>video detection>motion detection all cameras are enabled.

That NVR only does IVS and SMD if it exists and is set on the camera itself.
You must start logging into the camera and not use the NVR for these settings...

The camera interface should look like this

Funny you should suggest this because that is exactly what I was doing before you posted.
I have logged into the cameras itself. Turns out only camera 1 has an option for SMD and the other 4 cameras do not.
In addition, there was no recording schedule set for motion detection in any of the 4 camera's. I have scheduled this now and everything seems to be working.
I think the problem is now solved. Camera's 2-4 are now detecting, recording and notifying me of motion but do not allow for SMD configuration because it is not and available option for some reason.
Appreciate your help over the past few days. It was very frustrating as to why SMD was not available to the cameras but now I know it was never an option I feel much better.
Thank you once again!

Glad you got it working.

You will find that IVS (Tripwire/Intrusion) will generally work far better than MD OR SMD for humans and vehicles.

MD of course will give you lots of false alerts for leaves, shadows, etc. The only benefit of plain MD is that it will see ANY movement such as animals, where IVS will mostly filter out all objects except humans and vehicles
