Motion detection question?

How does motion detection for for a typical IP camera? Such as this?

I need a camera that will only record when there is motion. And preferrably for X minutes after the motion as stopped. All the review I see they talk about connecting motion to alarm events. I don't care about events, I merely want it to record when a person crosses a line detection or is otherwise seen with motion detection. Is that possible?

Yes that is possible. That’s the short answer. It does bring up many other questions where it’s important to know if you are running an NVR or Blue Iris etc. .

yes, I plan on using a small Synology NAS server with that Surveilence Station. Not sure if it will work well but thats the plan.
