motion detection triggered by car lights

Before I endeavour on endless experimentation, does anyone have experience or any tips on using motion detection while dealing with most of the frame being lit up from approaching vehicles? Basically think of it as living on a T junction and the drive way always lights up when cars approach but then turn either way. At the moment i record 24/7 and leave the motion detection to the camera its self (Store on its SD). But I would like to use some motion detection of BI to utilise the longer term storage on my PC system. Are there any tricks on improving this motion detection?

If your camera supports HLC, try that backlighting feature to reduce the flare of lights. Next you'll almost certainly have to setup multiple zones in BI to cut down on headlight triggers. Use the "test run video through motion detector" after you make changes to see the effect.
