I can mount cameras to soffit, but for a 2 story house will be way above height for identification purposes, so was thinking of mounting lower on vinyl

Saw a bunch of threads here about options and saw mounting blocks being recommended like this:

It will work but it's way bigger than the camera (dahua turret) mount and will be an eyesore

Is there anything available specifically for cams? Seems like a perfect project for someone with access to a 3d printer

Here's a guy who made a mount for ring doorbell:

Why not just screw it directly into the vinyl and into the plywood sheathing under the vinyl? Run a bead of caulk around the base after you tighten it down.

Getting to the wire will be another story. You will either have to punch all the way through to the inside or figure out a way to run inside an exterior wall to an attic/basement and deal with the insulation inside said wall which could be challenging.

Where would I house the connectors? Inside the wall? That would mean a bigger hole?

Yeah you would possibly have to mount the camera to a J-Box and keep the connectors inside of that. Or push them into a larger hole and keep them inside the wall.
