At my install location the ONT box from verizon. So I bought an Ubiquiti Edgerouter X router and installed it within the box receiving WAN access through eth0 and distributing it across my network through the eth1 port.

I bought a poe switch and I plugged it into eth2 and connected the camera to the switch and it successfully powered on.

However, this router is too advanced for me. How can I set it up properly to block outside internet access and also access the camera within my network? I know I need to change some settings because even though it is powered on, I cannot access the camera from my computer.

Congrats on the edgerouter, I have several installed and they work well. Here is a link to a firewall outbound rules video. I suggest you watch all the edgeos firewall and general config videos. The guys youtube name is willie howe and he explains things well. When I first got into edgerouters I found his vids very informative.

you didn't explain where your computer is connected with respect to the new router, but in general, you'd want to put your entire network behind it, not just the cams...
unless you really just want the edgerouter to provide a sort of DMZ for the cams only, in which case you'll need to set up all sorts of access rules to get at it from your internal network if
it's not also behind the router...

Verizon fios ONT-edgerouter-eth1 goes to switch that connects to every wired device plus wifi ap

Eth2 goes to poe switch that is connected to camera
