Hi,
So I currently have a Hikvision 16ch DVR which supports up to 2mp x 16 cameras- the wiring is all siamese cables and was installed some time ago and started to disintegrate. A few of the wires I have upgraded to CAT6 and used baluns but experiencing some voltage drop when using with DVR and using a power splitter.
So new plan is to wire up the house with CA6 external cable - with around 18 cameras but at a higher resolution of 5mp or 8mp (mix and match).
I was thinking of cctv camera - cat 6 - to a patch panel - to a POE switch - and then connect that to either an NVR or Computer to use Blue Iris.
I need a system that I will be able to upgrade going forward - some NVR limit the max of mp resolution which isn't what I want and I heard Blue Iris use alot of processing power with a desktop PC. I need to be able to locally on my TV see the cameras 24/7 and externally as long as the Internet is working. Anyone got any recommendations or experiences as to which one to go for?
