Hi! Im hoping you can give me some advice.
I have 8 vivotek IP cameras that all feed into a netgear POE(i think thats what it is) who then has an ethernet output to an NVR(also vivotek).

I can see all of the output from each of the cameras, i can log into the NVR and mess with the camera settings.

I have two problems:
1)if i turn the Vivotek NVR off and on, it reboots, I see all the camera output. everything will be fine for a day or so, then I'll come back and the vivotek NVR will still be on, but there's no camera feed on the montor and the monitor screen just keeps flashing various colors like white/red/blue or something.
A reset or turning on and off again temporarily fixes the issue.
I replaced the harddrive in the NVR and that seemed to fix the issue for about 4or 5months.
The NVR is pretty old so i was thinking maybe i should just get a new one and see if that solves things - but I'm wondering if there is a cheaper better alternative to Vivotek that will work with Vivotek cameras

2)this is the thing that bugs me the most.
i can see all camera output so i know the cameras are working
on the main camera management screen, only a few of the cameras can "authenticate" using the user and password -- seems like somehow the user passwords got screwed up and i just need to reset everything
If a get a new NVR- will it allow me to do that?
I can log into the cameras using a Vivotek program called shepard - anyone familiar with this?
I want to try and avoid having to climb up and manually reset the cameras as they are in difficult locations

thanks!
