Good morning everyone,

I was reading thru comments and saw some worth in posing this questions to yall to see if yall had similar experience / tasks.

I am in Dallas, TX and we will be putting some Cameras up on light poles out here.

The switches that will go in the enclosures for the cameras are CISCO IE1000's.

my question is on NEMA boxes, what do yall recommend for the Texas summers?

Cisco says NEMA 4 rating for the IE1000 switch.

Am I good with a sealed box?
vents?
fans?

Would love to hear some thoughts / experience from the group.

I’ve had these since 2017 with an Dahua NVR, cable modem, midspan and asus router in them. Florida humidity and heat and at least one hurricane. No vent or fan.

I'm ok
I have white plastic enclosures up on towers with Ubiquity routers, radios, chargers, etc inside of them.

I have a metal one with a home made repeater made out of 2 cheap walkie talkies that gets warm and shifts frequency.
I added a small fan to blow on the transmit radio but no holes. Still works several years later.

To be fair we’ve had to replace 1 cable modem and 1 HD in that 5 years. But that isn’t any different than the equipment in my house
