After years of frustration with kludgy LTS/Hik NVRs, I'm finally abandoning ship for Blue Iris.
Currently spec'ing out a high end PC for a build in early Jan. Will likely be Intel Core i7-14700K 3.4 GHz 20-Core based. I will probably 20 cams in total (mix of 8MP and 4MP). It will likely be in a mini-ITX case, as I really like being able to hide the PC.
From what I've seen, BI does best while recording directly to HDDs in the PC as opposed to on a networked drive.
My thought is to use two 18 GB WD Purple Pro HDDs in the PC via Raid 1 (mirroring) for redundancy.
Just wondering if anyone else is doing this, and if it is feasible.
Also wondering how easy it is to schedule backups to a NAS. Ideally, I would like to do constant recording of sub-streams (1080P or so) with events involving people or vehicles to be recorded at full res. If I got that working, perhaps the RAID on the box itself wouldn't be all that necessary, depending on how often the backups were scheduled.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
