Hello all!

I'm very happy I found this forum where I can geek out with everyone else. Having said that, I'm still getting to know some stuff. I have done a few system installs and have a decent grip on the subject.

Looking forward to learning from you guys.

We were testing you to see what kind of person you were Drew. You failed.

Honestly, what did I do wrong? I wasn't rude, I didn't use slang, I'm not selling anything, was just trying to say hi and get some advice.

@drew91101 part of your problem was most likely turning to this sub for help.

Most posts in this sub are simply new members saying "hi" or the like in order to be able to send private messages or start other interactions. You would most likely be better off locating another sub in the forum to post your question. Also as it relates to @Q2U post - its his "Q" sense or humor, if you hang around long enough you'll get it and understand :)

Thanks zero. I guess I figured it would be a better introduction than 28/male/NJ lol. I'll be sure to post that in the proper section of the forum. I guess the good thing is that I've made 4 posts now

Hello all!
First off, I'm very happy I found this forum where I can geek out with everyone else. Having said that, I'm still getting to know some stuff. I have done a few system installs and have a pretty good grip on the subject.

The one thing, to start, that I would like everyone's opinion on is Security Camera Wearhouse. I have purchased a few systems from them and have nothing but great things to say. Does anyone have any input? From what I can see, it looks like they re-brand their camera's and NVRs but aside from the prices, I can't complain. Any thoughts?

Also, I tried searching the forum for SCW but either got tons of results or 2 that were irrelevant. If anyone knows of an existing thread, feel free to post the link. Thanks!!
Obviously there are a lot of companies who peddle security hardware. One of the sites sponsors is Nelly's and they have always had great reviews and they also provide a discount to new members https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/1807-IPCT-Members-Only-Promo!

Also glancing at SCW's page they appear over priced for what is some rebranded or private label HIK equipment. I would advise you to check out nelly's or spend a few minutes poking around the forum to find a members catalog for a company that typically only deals with intigrators. https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/257-Good-source-to-buy-IP-items-at

https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/5681-HIKVision-amp-LTS-3-amp-4mp-Camera-review-example?highlight=LTS+4mp+3mp

Hope this helps, again, your post most likely just got lost in forum because of the sub you selected to post in...

*Edit: @drew91101 best advice if you are semi comfortable with IP cameras is to check out my second link and contact milk, especially since you are in NJ, you can prob. get next day service.

Greetings from the Granite State. Welcome aboard!

Former New Jermany resident here (Morris-Sussex area). VERY Happy to be living in a Free State now!

Not sure what you're asking regarding 'SCR'. You indicate you 'have nothing but great things to say' and 'aside from the prices, you can't complain'. Regardless, most people fall into two categories....Those that want support, and those that want the best (lowest possible) pricing. Generally these tend to be mutually exclusive! ;) I you're looking for some support from your vendor, two sources that are well recognized on the forum are @milkisbad (LTS Security) and Nelly's Security. More info can be found here:
@milkisbad - https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/257-Good-source-to-buy-IP-items-at

Nelly's Security - https://www.ipcamtalk.com/forumdisplay.php/54-Nelly-s-Security

If you're the latter group and looking for the lowest possible pricing, most buy from China through aliexpress.com. If you go this route, you need to know what you're looking for and shouldn't expect ANY support (or possibly even warranty coverage as you'd have to ship the equipment back to China on your dime, and then hope for the best anyway).

Hello from New Jermany! I'm so happy that you got out of this peoples republic.
I've done more reading throughout the forum and looked at Nelly's and found literally the same exact equipment easily 30% cheaper. I guess SCW was great when I was learning how to do everything but now that I can do pretty much everything myself, and with everyone's help here, the prices there aren't worth the support.
I'm considering returning the NVR and few cameras I bought from them for a refund to purchase the same equipment from Nelly's. The NVR I have has the POE built into the NVR but, according to SCW, will not accept non-SCW cameras unless through a separate POE switch; I would keep the equipment if not for that.
