Hello all,

I have just registered so that I can look for answers to all of my camera and hardware questions. I am new to some of the camera equipment and the software that it currently uses, but have a lot of experience in computer hardware and networking.

Thanks,
Jeff

Welcome to the forum Jeff. There is a ton of information to sort through and a bunch of helpful folks to answer any questions.

That is the most important part! Network technicians have an easier time setting up IP cameras than CCTV technicians :)

The best advice I can give you is to buy Hikvision or Dahua brands or rebrands (some places sell Hikvision or Dahua products under a different brand). The second best advice I can give you is to buy from a trusted business in the USA that will offer you support and a warranty. You can save money buying from China directly via aliexpress or some other site, but it is always a gamble; you could lose what you saved plus a bunch of your time if you have to eat the cost of a bad camera or two.
