I have been searching for days on setting my new Night Owl system up in Blue Iris. I know the IP and that is about it. I have tried all sorts of scenarios just not the right one yet I guess. I had a older night owl system that was working perfectly with it but none of those settings work with it. Can anyone shed light on this model or just a wee bit of help? Thanks for your time, love Blue Iris.

Series: BTD8
Model Number: DVR-BTD8-8-4POE

Unfortunately, many of us have found no consistency with these things. Some people had two of the same model Night Owl DVRs and one would come in and the other wouldn't. And some of these companies are going to cloud based type arrangements and when you isolate the DVR, you eliminate the ability to see the cameras unless it is thru an HDMI cord to a monitor. Or they flat out simply lock it down from being able to be seen by 3rd party to eliminate all the calls to the call center. It is easier for them to tell someone "doesn't work with third party VMS" than it is to try to troubleshoot it with someone that doesn't know what an IP address is LOL.

I think @Flintstone61 tried everything to bring his Night Owl into BI and kinda got it working. I will let him share the story because it is a great read LOL.

Somebody on here figured out his way into a string of RSTP codes for mine, but in the end I drop kicked the Nightowl for an recently retired XVR from the condo.
I'd have to search the forum to find the rstp string.

FWIW, 4 or 5 years ago I got a Night Owl analog DVR working with BI by selecting in the drop-downs "Night Owl" for make and "LION-4500 media port 9000", then selected camera number from a drop-down (the BNC channel the cam was connected to); repeated for all 8 channels, DVR LAN IP, username and password same for all 8 channels, changing only the cam number.

I think the Night Owl was a model FS-8500.

Yeah People tried to help me with that scenario TonyR. but she wasn't havin it. I got it to work eventually, but I had already obsconded with the Condo's Amcrest 8ch XVR....LOL so....Out she went.....Got a rude introduction to the Cam World with that piece o junk.
So glad BI played nice with the Amcrest dvr/Nvr stuff.
For my next trick, I have also "repurposed" the Condo's Amcrest nvr 4108 POE, into my Garage's "pile-o-camera" stuff.
(Replaced with 2 Ubiquiti Nano's and a 4 port POE switch.)
{ Johnny Cash- One Piece at a time, didn't cost me a dime} LOL
gonna start with Big Boy IP cams this spring at some point.
