I noticed the new version SmartPSS 11/24/17 on Dahua at Software - Dahua Technology

It seem that Dahua finally fix the annoying snippet hour bug and export the mp4 that playable in most players.

I was able set the start and end time about 30 minutes long and snipped it. The snipped video played back fine in Windows Media Player but since I am Deaf so I can't verify the audio part.

Thanks Bill. It seems that Dahua's own 'ToolBox' software still hasn't caught up with that update I see!

Bill, I've now downloaded the new version v.2.02.0 dated 24/11, but still cannot fathom out how to save a clip of anything other than 1 hour long. However mp4 is a saving file format option, as you say.
Even when I chose a date/time range to precisely match the segment I wish to export (see screengrabs attached), it still only allows a 1 hour long clip to be exported. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Cheers
Nigel

When you click the snippet, it will highlight a one hour box on your timeframe below. That highlight box is adjustable but hard to grab onto with a mouse to adjust it.

Just move your mouse cursor to the edge of the snippet box and click hold button down see if it slide and it not then move mouse a bit and keep repeating until you notice it grabbed the edge where you can increase or decrease the snippet time by sliding it.

Hi Bill. Indeed there is! I couldn't see it as I had zoomed too far in on the timeline. Thanks very much indeed for clarifying that.
Kind regards,
Nigel

Painful exercise so far. I can move the one hour end bars if i give the window enough time (wider than a couple of hours, but so far every time i try to save it (second time selecting the snip-it tool icon), I get an error/fail, then the camera goes off line for a while. I finally just gave up for now.

Sorry to hear that. Quite painless for me after I realised where I was going wrong. Effortlessly produced a 2 minute MP4 file in no time. I think you may have to unplug your NVR for a minute or two to clear the fault, as I sometimes need to if I've been too assiduous with the software.
Hope this helps.

Some of us may be able to help you out here. Just post on here what NVR model and firmware version and what SmartPSS version are you using.

The camera that i was messing with last night only had local (uSD) storage, which might have been a lot of the problem. I tried it again just now in another location and camera where i have a Dahua NVR, and had no issue at all with the first 5 min mp4 clip that i selected. I did notice that when i click the clip icon the second time, it actually starts the export process on its own vs making a selection (tiny check box) then selecting start, which is what i was doing last night, which night cause the fail. Since it is automatically exporting, i am not sure what selecting the check box and selecting start would do. Later today i will try again with the local uSD storage camera, but weight a few more seconds for the auto export process to start and complete (hopefully), without interrupting it with a "start" selection.

<Edit> Yep, that was it. I just and to be patient and not click the start button. minor bug.

It's very easy. All you need to do is position the mouse over the time bar, and roll the top roller of your mouse to expand or decrease the time bar. Afterwards, simply move the red tab to where you want to stop the backup.
