NewsBreak App Do You use it ?

Anybody use this app?
I friend of mine sent me a local story with a link through text messaging. It wanted me to install the Newsbreak app on my android. I'm pretty app-less on my phone and always suspect of any app. A bit of research on it, Turns out that one of its major owners is a Chinese company called IDG Capital, alleged to have ties to the Chinese Gov. A bit of cursory searching and quite a few articles point this to be somewhat accurate. I read a Kim Kommando article on it and was not likening what I was reading. And also a VOA article.

Newsbreak has regularly published fake AI generated stories and should always be met with some skepticism. That said, on rare occasions, it has relevant, factual hyper local news that you won't find elsewhere.

I've had it come preinstalled on phones, but removed it. Once or twice a year I look at their website.

Hard pass. But then most all US-based news apps are suspect and full of tracking too.
