No Substream

Been experimenting with BI to get a basic feel for the app (for the time being we're using DMSS). Got our 5 cams added and are able to view vids.

However, can't Access the Substream on one cam (EmpireTech 1/1.8 4mp bullet). After running Find/inspect, the Stream Profiles only show "(default)" for Main and "(none)" for Sub. Our other four 1/1.8 8mp EmpireTech turret cams are able to access both the Main and Substream. Their Stream Profiles were fully filled in with a lengthy set of parameters after running Find/inspect.

Get the following error when I run Find/Inspect on the 4mp bullet:

Requesting device information...
Invalid response. Is the password correct?

The password is correct. With the exception of the Substream issue everything else appears to be working ok. Able to view the Main stream, triggers, etc. We can access the Main and Substream on this 4mp bullet with the DMSS and SmartPSS Lite apps.

Anything I can tweak in BI to access the Substream on this one cam? Thanks!

That usually means an ONVIF password issue.

These devices keep users and ONVIF users as separate and if the password doesn't match in the ONVIF manager list (which happens frequently when people start changing passwords or use the ConfigTool), then the cameras cannot be "seen". Or sometimes the firmware just goes wonky.

Log into the Camera GUI and under users you will see a tab called ONVIF User or ONVIF Manager or something like that.

Select it and then change the admin password for the ONVIF user to match your new password.

Or simply create a new user and password in ONVIF user (no special characters in password) and use that in BI and hit the find/inspect again.

Yup, you were right---it was an ONVIF password issue. Got the Substream up and running. Thanks, @wittaj!

Funny though, I can access the cam using admin and my current password via the DMSS iOS app, but this same password is invalid for the "User" admin and "ONVIF User" admin accounts in the GUI (web browser using IP address). I had to add/create another User account to get the Substream up and running with BI on this one cam.

To clear this unknown password for this primary admin User account, I assume I'd have to do a hardware reset, then reinstall the cam from scratch?

Yeah, it really isn't worth the factory update. Sometimes just typing in the old password as the new password works.

After a few of these issues, I don't use the admin password anymore in BI. I create a user/pw that I use for BI to hopefully prevent this type of issue from happening.
