Yes, they are creatures of habit, as it looks identical to your 7/2 post.
Our dogs like routine, don't like to change what works, the old "don't fix it if it ain't broke" sort of outlook.
I think this is why we see cow trails so visibly....if it was safe and proven for them before, why take a different route! Our dogs do it, they've got a bare place worn in the grass in their fenced area where they come out their doggy door at the back and go around to the side and front to bark at the deer.

I think its jumping from my fence to the tree.. Almost the same path everytime..
