Hello all
I am a fire alarm technician by trade, but my company has decided to cross train me in cams and access control . I have taken a few courses passed my ESNT certification , and am now looking to install a camera system at home. I have been looking through the site and found it to be great resource. I look forward to digging through more of the forums to learn more from those of you that have been doing it for years and have suffered through the same pitfalls that I'm sure I will hit

Welcome! With the alarm background your already ahead of a lot as you'll be comfortable pulling cable and terminating connections as well as you shouldn't have any programming struggles. Your main point - will be to assure you get quality hardware from the start that fits your needs.
