Firmware: V3.4.82 build 161028
Camera Resolution: 2688*1520

Hi everyone,

I currently have the above mentioned NVR with 4 cameras connected to it plugged into a 4k monitor. I have set the output resolution of the NVR to 4k, but when viewing all the cameras in a 2x2 grid configuration the camera resolution is very low. It looks like it is only outputting the substream, is there any way to make it output the mainstream as the monitor should be able to display four 1920x1080 cameras at once.

Cheers.

DS-7604NI-K1 can output 4K (3840 × 2160)/ !!! 30Hz !!! (that is low) via HDMI but can not stream 4k at all. It can stream max 2 channels with 4mp (2560 x 1440 x 25 frames) or 4 channels 2mp (1920 x 1080 x 25 frames).

If you want to see 4 cameras with 1920x1080 mainstream you have to set them to record in 1920x1080 and NVR will show you all of them in mainsream. Or you can try to change output stream of your cameras on your NVR (menu-configure-live) so that in quad view 2 cameras will show mainstream (2560x1440) and 2 will show only substream (640x360).

DS-7604NI-K2 can stream 2 channels with 4k
DS-7604NI-I2 can stream 4 channels with 4k

Thanks fvhjof! I had all the cameras set to 2688*1520, and changing them all to 1920*1080 gave me the results I wanted.

Many thanks.

Changing camera resolution from 2688*1520 to 1920*1080 makes camera to use only part of its CMOS sensor size and on output you will see only centered part of the whole picture from your cam. It's like changing cam from 2.8mm to 4-6mm
