Hi folks,

I have an add on camera, THIS model on THIS system and for some reason it absolutely will not be detected by the NVR. It just goes to the finding camera routine forever. And never finds.

If it helps, the old camera got water in it and died. That one added no problem. Also the green power light on the female plug is slowly blinking. I hope I'm just missing something. Any help wuld be enormously appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg - Detroit

  1. Is that when the Ethernet cable is connected to your network/
  2. Is the NVR's capacity 8 or 10 channels (see below image) ?
  3. The additional camera makes how many?

Thank you for the response sir.
These are wireless. The NVR has a 10 camera capacity. I have 9. The green light begins sloooowly blinking a few seconds after being plugged in and then just continues. Fade off... one one thousand (or so)... fade back on, one one thousand, and so on.

I bought the original 8 camera setup and then bought a ninth camera which took 5 minutes to get working with the other 8.

Stupidly I didn't notice that the ninth add on one was not IP67 rated and it died from water ingress. I ordered this one which is identical to the other 8 and it just will not be detected by the NVR. I wonder if the old dead one's configuration is stuck in there, but there's no way to delete the channel that I can find and neither is there any way to reset the unit to outta the box. Only a soft refresh that leaves everything except minor customizations intact.

I even opened it up and removed the coin battery for a minute. Also, since it is a 10 camera NVR, you'd think that it would just add the new one on the remaining unused Chanel anyway.

I don't know. It could be just bad from the factory I suppose, but I think the blinking green light is telling me something. Like waiting to be added or something like that.

This is killin me. We live in a bad area and I really need that camera.

Thanks again. :)

Actually the light is on the Ethernet port. On the working ones, it's always on solid green.

If it's to be connected wirelessly then maybe the Ethernet port can be used to configure something in the cam's webGUI, like an UID number or serial number. Does your instructions (if any) shed any light on that process?

Otherwise...what's the point of having an Ethernet port?

In the NVR setup, is there a "search", a "code" (from label on cam) to be typed in, "saved" or "OK" and then device then gets added to the NVR?

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that.

Not that I can recall. I'll look again, but the "instructions" are pretty sparse.

They are dual interface cameras. Wireless or ethernet.

I saw something along those lines in there, but there is no information or QR code externally on the cameras. I hope if I connect it directly that the configuration persists after I take it wireless. I would prefer wired cameras, but this isn't my house. I do have decent computer skills generally, but not too much experience with IP cameras. Not these newer ones. I had wired ones on my house, but that was like 15 years ago.

I do very much appreciate your help again.

The company shockingly answered my support request. See what you make of this. Somewhat along similar lines.
Thanks for your email and time.

Please email us your system and that camera Amazon order IDs(17 digits, like XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX), pictures of NVR system version info(as shown in attachment) and that camera version info(power on the camera, connect it to the NVR directly with a network cable, go into System setup>> Channel setup>> IPC upgrade/System setup>> System admin>> IPC maintenance); we will check for you.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us, we will respond as soon as possible.

That's a good sign, I think.

Generally, a cam that is wireless only will connect only to an encrypted, proprietary wireless signal from a NVR or it is initally in AP (ad hoc) mode and you use the app on a smartphone to find its SSID (wireless signal), log into it and configure it.

If it also has an Ethernet port then one would think there must be a means to use it; if it has a webGUI for configuration then it should have either a static IP that the manufacturer makes known OR if is in DHCP mode and it will get an IP from your router, you find that IP either by logging into your router's webGUI and peeking at its DHCP clients or running Fing or a similar network sniffer to find that IP; log into that IP to launch the device's webGUI.

But the 2 paragraphs above are assuming the cam follows conventional (up to now) methods; some, especially the lesser known and cheaper Chinese brands go to great lengths to push cloud/p2p usage and/or scanning a QR code or entering a UID/serial number in an app on a smartphone to set up. It's all about the appearance of ease in setup and greatest versatility for the user but minimum hardware and software investments for them, maximizing their profits. Which is why they will also lock you into using only their cams with their NVR.

I got it to work, by connecting it directly to the NVR. I think it was a firmware incompatibility of some sort. I actually used the "wireless add" feature while it was wired and it found it. After I disconnected it from the NVR and put it back on the porch, the connection persisted. So, some hoop jumping, but it's working.
Thanks for the help :)
