P2P server data usage

I have Hikvision IP cameras (standalone - no NVR, just ethernet connection to router through switch). Remote phone access has worked fine for the last 3 years, but now fails consistently. The setup requires
port forwarding and a DNS service. However, I'm considering P2P setup with Hikvision's P2P server, but I'm
on a somewhat metered wireless connection and concerned about excessive data usage by the server.
It's my understanding that the server basically initiates the p2p connection and then stays in a passive
monitoring state. But, after the P2P connection is terminated, what is the server doing ? Does in go to
a listening state or is their active date transfers between peer and server ? Has anyone experienced large
data usage by the Hikvision P2P server ? My remote video monitor sessions usually last no more than 10 to
15 seconds and use only a few mbs of data.

I assume your talking about the ISP side. I have connections setup using the P2P service, and I have not noticed any data consumption when I’m not actually viewing the stream. To be fair, I have never actually looked for that though. I think my cap with Comcast is over 1TB so I really wouldn’t ever notice anything unless I were to hit my cap
