Just wondering - What would be better bandwidth wise? I have a PC that has two network ports. Would it be better to passthrough the BlueIris PC straight to the NVR instead of a switch? Would that save any network overhead if the cameras are all directly connected to the NVR?

So the two options are like this:

Internet <--> swich <--> BIPC <--> NVR <--> PoE cams

Or

Internet <--> switch <--> BIPC
^-------> NVR <--> PoE cams

Whenever possible, it is best to take the cameras off the home internet LAN.

Most of us that use BI and an NVR we have one network port that our internet goes to and all the cameras and NVR go into the other ethernet port.

Do you mean you have like a semi-isolated system? What do you mean, one port for internet and one port for the cameras and NVR? Just a regular switch? Where does the PC fit in?

Yes, a separate isolated system. You said your computer has two network ports, so one of the ports is used to give your computer internet access and then the other port is given an IP address that is different than your internet address that keeps all the cameras off the internet.

Here is a simplified graphic @samplenhold put together
