So after the findings about my video system during my last thread.. https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/10867-Car-thieves-And-lots-of-bugs

I'm thinking about adding a PIR/IR illuminator to my setup. Anyone have suggestions? I find stuff like this on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/COOLWEST-100V...ts=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin:3449588011) (http://www.amazon.com/BOSCH-SECURIT...TF8&qid=1462679373&sr=1-1&keywords=PIR+SENSOR) But I'm not entirely sure about their coverage/outdoor ratings. Anyone have anything they recommend.

What's your goal? Illuminate IR on motion?

That bosh is indoor and will interface with alarm panels, meaning it has low current signaling output and can't drive an illuminator without extra circuitry (relays, transistors, etc.)

The coolwest will drive up to 800W IR illuminator, but it has to be AC power. Wrightwood sells a decent IR illuminator but it runs on DC so you would have to switch the ACDC power supply. Not easily done while keeping code compliant.

Im not sure what you are using for an nvr, but most units have alarm inputs and outputs. We often use optex lx 402 PIRS for inputs. You can then configure your alarm output to trigger a strobe. You will need to use a timer to shut the strobe off. Altronix makes a good adjustable timer.
