Can anyone recommend some good turrets maybe 40 meters ir for pitch black lighting.
I am on a farm which has no external lighting it is pitch black outside at night and if you turn a light on all you get are moths and bugs everywhere so can't use external lighting.

Insects also see IR and UV very well. About the only lighting color that insects have difficulty with is yellow and red, but red is very hard for humans.

Below is an excerpt from ==>> Insects See the Light - Purdue University

"Insects, on the other hand, perceive wavelengths of from 650 to 300 nanometers, including the ultraviolet range of the spectrum. What this means is that most insects don't see well in the yellow, orange and red portion of the spectrum but see ultraviolet very well. Humans are just the opposite."
Typical CCTV cameras can see 850 nm IR very well and that's what they provide when IR-equipped. 940 nm is seen less by humans and can be used, the cams will see it but it will need to be 2 to 3 times more powerful than the 850 would be in order to be sufficient for the cam.

You can always turn off the IR on the camera, and use external IR flood lights.
You can buy them here, or on Amazon.

40 meters in turret form is a long way to see. What is overall goal to DETECT, OBSERVE, RECOGNIZE, OR IDENTIFY?

The end use has a lot to do with the recommendation. If it is to Recognize or Identify, you are into the PTZs.

This is about as good as it gets in turret form:

DORI DistanceDetectObserveRecognizeIdentify
W 2.8mm58 m (190.3 ft)23 m (75.5 ft)12 m (39.4 ft)6 m (19.7 ft)
T 12mm131 m (429.8 ft)52 m (170.6 ft)26 m (85.3 ft)13 m (42.7 ft)

But as mentioned, unless you do external infrared away from the camera, bugs will be all over the IR emitted from the camera.

You will not find that in a turret form factor. You will need to move to the PTZ like the Dahua 49225 or better.
