I am currently using an external 4TB USB3 hard drive as Storage for one of my Blue Iris setups. New and the db are kept on an internal drive and when it is copied to Storage it goes to the external drive which is kept locked up.
My current thought is that I will swap out the external drive once a month and retain the recordings for a while. I have not defined a while yet, I am still working out the details.
Anyhow, it works fine so far but I lose the clip database as it is not copied to the external drive. Is there a way to separate the clip database so that I can keep the appropriate indexes on the external drive.
Right now I am thinking of just creating a task to copy over the database once a day so that I will at least have it but I think it would be preferable to do it within Blue Iris.
