Post camera motion detiection?

Hi, I use 2 ANPR Cams to monitor my busy road and eventually realised what they missed (due to motion detection not activating if the subject moved too fast) was often more than they were capturing so I moved over to Continuous recording. Now with everything being captured I of course have to trawl through on x4 speed or just note times of interest to look up the next day. I do miss being able to view the nights events in just a few minutes but then again i was only getting half the story i guess.

My question is with my continouse file is there any post encoding program that I could use to play my video file to find the points of motion detection for me to view in a much shorter time? Does Blue Iris or anything else do this?

I record reliably on two 500 Gig SD cards on both ANPR cams and get about 2 weeks storage out of them. I'm happy with them and my system won't be growing so didn't make a jump to an NVR or DVR (maybe that's my only solution if they cover that?).

Any pointers apreciated thanks.

Cmera Type: ikvision iDS-2CD7A26G0_P-IZHSY
Program: Hikvision iVMS4200

Blue Iris looks pretty good but I guess that means i'd have a PC running 24/7 which is something i'd have to consider. So am i right in thinking Blue iris would take my camera feeds (or streams) and be able to offer better motion detection than my cameras and their native software/hardware already do? Maybe i've got that wrong possibly.

IMO yes that is right.. Think of it like this.. Camera as a Mustang and you want faster better so you add Bi Turbo.. Adding a camera*s* to Blue Iris is like boosting a Mustang with a turbo it can take performance to the next level, but without proper setup, it can cause more problems than benefits. If done right, it’s a game-changer!

1- Correct. Dedicated PC
2- Not from what I know. Many using BI still rely on the camera IVS . Look into this further

BI has lots of bells and whistles. Look at your specific needs and see if it will actually solves those.

Yes you are troublemaker

Thanks for the input guys, for £50/$63 i think i'll take a punt probably. I have read about BI's success and otherwise regarding motion detection and it has a bundle of other functions i may use too. The built in server and accessing this with my mobile is a big tick. Problem wise for me it's speeding cars that elude my cams frequently so the next logical step is a different/better software trial I as i've tweeked all i can with my HIK cams and IVMS4200.

I'll end up using a small form fanless PC or similar dedicated to just the cams and BI and didn't think this program is super resource intensive, if anyone has any minimum reccomendations PC wise i'd be happy to hear that.

Thanks again
