[SOLVED] Problem with Dahua PoE Camera Connection – ACT Light Not On

Hello, I have Dahua cameras installed at home, along with a Dahua NVR and a Dahua PoE switch. Recently, I added a new camera, and while all other cameras work perfectly, this last one is giving me trouble. I checked the cable with a tester, and it shows that the cable is fine. However, when I connect the camera, only the green PoE light on the switch turns on, while the red ACT light remains off. The camera was tested on a shorter cable directly connected to the PoE switch in the control room, and it worked without any issues. The camera is already configured. Has anyone encountered this issue before or can offer any advice? Thank you!

Sounds like a cable/connector issue

I was just helping a buddy earlier this week and he had the same issue. He was sure that it was the camera. The cable tested good on continuity.

Camera worked fine on a short cable at the NVR.

He made up new connections and I had him lay a temp 100ft cable he had on the ground to test in the original location. He called yesterday saying he was pulling new cable and it had been working fine for 4 days.

Plain old continuity test isn’t enough

Also worth checking if you’re PoE switch is at total max output, and is your NVR close to max incoming bandwidth? It will drop cameras past its rated max incoming

+1 above.

We have had MANY people here after running cable and the tester shows it is fine but doesn't work.

The consumer grade testers only test continuity. Unless you are using a true Fluke tester (that costs thousands of dollars LOL), the cheap testers simply measure continuity and can pass that, but not be sufficient for POE loading. Especially if it is CCA wiring.

Thank you for the quick responses. I am going to try connecting the power supply to the camera to check if the issue is really with the cable.

UPDATE:
Thank you to all the members who tried to help me with the camera issue. In the end, the problem was that the end of LAN cable was incorrectly made, and it was necessary to create a new one! Wishing you all the best and much success in everything you do!
