Proper settings to cut down on triggers.

A couple of my cameras will have a lot of activity on several occasions. What is a good way to cut down on alerts in the timeline playback or is there even an option. I've tried several things, but I just don't seem to be doing the right thing since I may get multiple alerts in a short period of time. Thanks.

Do you have cameras with AI?

Or are you using BI motion? If so, post your settings. Making object size larger and a longer make time are two ways to reduce triggers.

I mean the AI of the camera and not code project.

That camera has smart plan with AI IVS and that will eliminate all your false triggers. And then use just IVS without BI motion.

Give me a minute to find the post I made how to set it up.

Go into the camera GUI and set up smart plan with IVS, then go to the IVS screen and draw IVS rules (tripwire or intrusion box) and then select the AI you want it to trigger on (human or vehicle).

Make sure MD and SMD are turned off in the camera GUI.

Then in BI, there are a few places you need to set this up in BI (assuming you already set up the IVS rules in the camera GUI):

In Camera configure setting check the box "Get ONVIF triggers".

Hit Find/Inspect on the camera setting to pull the coding for the triggers. Make sure to re-enable substreams.

Go into Motion Setting and select the "Cameras digital input" box OR "ONVIF/CAMERA EVENTS" based on which BI version you have. Turn off BI Motion Detection (uncheck Motion Sensor) if you don't want to use it:

On the Alerts tab uncheck the Motions Zones tab (those are alerting you to any BI motion in those areas in Zones A thru H) and select ONVIF and External check boxes.

On the "On alert..." actions, select how you want to be alerted (email, push, SMS, etc.)

This will use the AI of the camera and not the motion detection within BI.

I had done all of that, but I had not unchecked motion zones, and had all the other boxes checked as well. I'll get that changed and see what happens. I have new triggers only for the drop down and notice you have New zones/sources only (exclusive). What will that change? Thanks again.

Having motion zones checked meant that BI would trigger for ANY motion that met the size and time limits you put in.

New Triggers mean it will trigger for any new trigger - say you have two IVS rules - it will trigger for both.

"New zones/sources only (additive)" is used if you are going to have several IVS rules being used in one camera and want to be able to do something with each rule separately.

"New zones/sources only (exclusive)" option is a cool feature if you want to primarily use IVS rules for triggering your alerts, but you want to use BI motion to capture wildlife and other things. Prior to this option, you would need to use a clone because if the motion triggered first, then the IVS wouldn't trigger. Now you can use one camera and this trigger option and the object can trigger BI motion first and if it then triggers IVS, it will alert you of the IVS trigger.
