PTZ Dropping Image Feed

I've got a DH-SD59430U PTZ connected to a DHI-NVR5216-16P-4KS2E. The image feed keeps dropping sporadically – sometimes for many hours, sometimes for a few minutes – with no obvious pattern or reason.

The PTZ is ‘static’ i.e. it’s not scanning an area or moving and no trip wires etc set up

When it’s working, the image feed is crystal clear and then suddenly, the feed drops – I’ve seen this happen in ‘Live View’.

It’s set to ‘General Record’

Distance: 10M from NVR

Power: 23W PTZ, 25.5W per channel NVR max with total max NVR 130W

Other Cams: 3 x <5W

Playback: Intermittent recording tying in with dropped image feed

I was hoping that someone may offer some thoughts on why this issue is occurring as I now can’t rely on the camera functioning as it should.

Thank you in advance.

It appears you've been running this NVR for maybe 4 years.....what about the PTZ? How long was it working without this most recent issue?

If all was well until recently I would be looking at connections.....where the RJ-45 male plugs into the camera's pigtail and then again any connections coming into the NVR and check the intergrity of the cable.

Oxidation and corrrosion can create isssues over time as can some mechanical issues with connections and so it's important to use proper weatherproofing measures, including dielectric grease....any squirrels in the area like the taste of your CAT cable?:idk:

The NVR and PTZ haven't been used for about 3 years (not related to the issue I'm now facing). Prior to this the PTZ feed was uninterrupted. The PTZ and CAT cable haven't been touched and it can't be a vermin issue, but after your comment (thank you) the obvious culprit is the connection. The CAT cable is short with no joins, so I think my best bet is to take the PTZ down, check and clean thinks up and replace the CAT cable. Thank you again for your helpful comment.
