PTZ (SD49225XA-HNR) tracking after a spotter cam moves it to a preset

Trying to tweak my parents' BI5 system that includes this PTZ model. I have a spotter cam looking at the south driveway and when it detects motion it commands the PTZ to swing over to take a closer look. In the video you can see the PTZ is normally looking at the front driveway (Preset 1) then is commanded to move to the south driveway (Preset 3). You can see that Preset 3 for the PTZ is to look mostly at south driveway area. As you can see, my Dad is backing up and the PTZ tracks as expected but then it stops tracking and moves back to the Preset 3 position momentarily before it picks up the motion again and tracks again....it actually does this twice. You can see that when Dad gets to the stop sign the PTZ gives up and goes back to Preset 1.

Also refer to my PTZ settings for Preset 3. I believe what is happening is that the spotter cam is triggered multiple times (IVS - multiple trip wires) and this is why the PTZ is repositioning twice back to Preset 3 which of course makes sense. What is the proper way to tell the PTZ that once it moves to Preset 3 then begins tracking to ignore any incoming EXTERNAL alerts coming from the spotter cam? Suggestions on what to change to make this work out a little better?

And, I believe you had said that right now there is nothing that can be done about the PTZ giving up when Dad gets to the stop sign?

Unfortunately, yep that is correct. Once the object stops, tracking stops. Would be a nice feature if they could figure out how to allow a user to adjust that.

However, most will roll thru a stop sign, so it will probably keep tracking LOL.

Sometimes a wider zoom can keep the track a little longer, or you could set up a preset for the stop sign area, but then that is more fine tuning to get it to do what you want.

It looks to me that the PTZ just gave up even though it appears the vehicle is still moving. I haven't really found much info on the DWELL setting so don't know what effect, if any, it has since I'm not using Auto-cycle. Or, is that the magic bullet to tell the PTZ to keep tracking until the dwell time is over? Unfortunately, it's difficult to diagnose this 500 miles away given there are rarely trigger events that happen and I don't want to send 86 year old Dad outside to test all the trip wires and motion detection...LOL.

The dwell time is how long it will stay on a preset before moving if you are using a patrol cycle feature. Since you are not, it doesn't do anything. It would be nice if that were the silver bullet, but the dwell is a BI function and has zero impact on the tracking of the camera as the tracking is within the camera.

If the PTZ gave up although it appears to still be moving, that is either the TRACK TIME in the PTZ is set to short - unless you use Internet Explorer, it will default to 15 seconds regardless of the time you change it to. Or the other issue is the camera isn't dialed into the setting and it loses track and starts tracking something else. That can be determined with an SD card in the camera and doing playback from the camera GUI with the IVS rules on to see what it thinks to track mid-track instead of the original object.

The only thing I can think of is that it's losing tracking due to the vehicle slowing down (but not stopping nor blocked by another object). It's definitely giving up and moving back to PTZ Preset 1 like it's done.

Here is what my settings look like:

I assume motion detection has to be enabled for it to autotrack and that the area should be the full view of the camera since the scene will change while it's tracking.

Not sure why I have IVS rules setup for Preset 3 since the only time Preset 3 is active is when the spotter sends the PTZ to Preset 3. Track time is 120 sec by the way.

No, MD has to be turned off. Only use DeepIVS

You have Preset 3 setup as IVS so that it will track.

There is no "autotrack smart plan" icon button. You have to go thru these steps:

Use Internet Explorer as this camera is very sensitive to this browser. Edge or Chrome with the IE tab will not work. The track time of 15 seconds will revert back to 15 seconds with any other browser.

You need to set up a preset.

Then you need to set-up the Smart Plan with Deep IVS for the presets you want to track.

Then select the object filters you want.

Then go to Deep IVS Rules Config page and you should see Track Time under alarm and Tracking Target size slider.

When setting up IVS rules, I strongly recommend you use intrusion box with appears and crosses instead of tripwire. And less is more. One IVS rule.

Leave min size as 0,0 and let AI do its thing.

Make sure that Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off.

I repeat, make sure Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off LOL.

Thanks, I'll try it out. Again, being 500 miles away it's hard to test events since they seldom happen and I don't personally own a PTZ for my system at home.

Increase your tracking target size in small increments, and wait to see the results. These settings must be done for each rule, and each preset.

Also appears you need to increase the contrast some, based on your video.
Try 40 for brightness and contrast at 50. This helps with the overall tracking as well.
