Help, critique or advice very much welcomed on the following slightly unusual scenario.
I have a relatively low budget requirement to record lots of sports events - lets for simplicity call them 100m sprint races. There is money for cameras and a recording system, but not for lots of staff (camera / edit etc) at each event. The idea is to set up multiple fixed cameras, for example one at the start line, one or more 'on the track', and one at the finish. All would be set to record at 1080p, 25 frames a sec, continuous to a PC based DVR/ NVR.
After the event we would then 'extract' the full broadcast quality clips, place on a timeline in Premier / Final Cut, and edit in the conventional way (using race times as a cue, adding graphics etc).
Assuming you use good enough IP cameras, and a beefy enough NVR, is there any reason this approach would not work? Can you easily extract a (say) 2 hour clip from something like Blue Iris and expect it to be in sync with a second clip from another cam viewing the same scene?
