A friend of mine has a shop in a mall that I was trying to help him set up his Q-see NVR and cameras. He would like to have access to the cams through his phone but shares the malls internet and does not have direct access to the router. I told him I believe the only way to get around this would be for him to get his own separate modem, router and internet service. It got me to wondering though, Is there another way?

He could run a VPN server at home and have a VPN client at his shop in the mall. Then when he connects to his home VPN, the shop in the mall will also be accessible through the VPN.

Thanks BP, I'll go ahead and suggest that to him. I know he won't know what the hell A VPN is though so I'm sure he'll want me to set it up which I have honestly never tried to do. Should be a learning experience anyway!
