Removing Smart plan from one camera and adding to another on the nvr

Hello,

I've realized that I cannot have 8/8 cameras (IPC-HFW2449T-AS-IL) pushing smart plans to the NVR (NVR4108HS-8P)
I wanted to have tripwire and intrusion enabled on all 8, but it seems that this NVR accepts only 6 channels for perimeter protection , please correct me if I m wrong NVR4108HS-8P-4KS3 - Dahua International.

Reason why I wanted to have intrusion and tripwire is to control them with different scheduling (that works but its another story)

If that is indeed the case, my first question is how can I move this smart plan allocation from channel e.g 6 to channel 7 which currently doesnt appear on the dropdown.
I have already connected to camera 6 and disabled smart plan from there , but the NVR still sees camera 6 in the drop down and not 7 ...or 4 for that matter.

and secondly, what would you recommend I add as a detection for the other 2 cameras , SMD with masking or anything else more accurate ?

Thanks so much !

What cameras do you have?

It is far better to let the camera do the triggering than the NVR.
Out of 8 cameras , 5 are IPC-HFW2449T-AS-IL and from those 5 , 2 are currently not triggering because they were left out of the quota of 6/8 from the NVR. Unless I'm not understanding that quota

Set the Smart Plan and associated IVS rules on the camera itself, NOT the NVR interface.
ALL settings should be done on the individual camera GUI

yes your NVR has a 6 AI channel limit

It sounds like you are using the NVR to set up the triggers and that cripples the capacity of the NVR. You need to set it up in the cameras.

Instead do the following:

Go to a computer and open up Internet Explorer (yeah we know but it is still there) or Pale Moon or maybe for your use Edge with IE tab open.

Type in the IP address of the NVR and login.

Go to this screen (may look different than yours depending on age of NVR) and select the Microsoft "e" icon and it will take you to the login of the camera and set the motion detection up there. That will give your NVR its full capacity.

As I said

Look at the NVR interface as a reporting/confirmation screen of your cameras settings , NOT a place to actually make settings

And get used to hitting SAVE and REFRESH 2-3 times on each change on the camera. This pushes the settings back to the NVR for you to view

No, you are doing it in the NVR which cripples the capacity and reduces the number of cameras.

Using the NVR you will be throttled with triggers on what is sounding like only 6 of the 8 cameras.

Instead set up the triggering in the cameras and then all 8 cameras will trigger per their respective settings.

Delete the smart plan for each camera in the NVR and instead set them up in the cameras. Then all 8 can have a smart plan and trigger.

Partially right, but that NVR truly has a 6 channel limit on recording Camera IVS . It’s the cheap “lite” version

Got it , so if I redo all the redrawing in-camera , then even the reporting on the NVR will show 8/8 active.
But I get it, I should anyway do the redrawing in camera and recheck the triggers.

You should do EVERYTHING on the camera.

Your NVR will still only allow 6 IVS channels to be recorded - it will ignore the last 2

Not if plugged into the NVR

You could try running SMD on 2 cameras?

I’ve not purchased NVR’s with channel restrictions on IVS before so can’t say I’ve thought of a work around ..

Can I suggest getting a 16 channel NVR? perhaps. That's what I ended up doing when the 8ch got slowed down from being " at capacity".

His isn’t a capacity issue, it’s a reduced features model NVR to make it cheaper and show a difference for marketing purposes

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was asking in the OP, if indeed I am limited and if I should be switching 2 channels to SMD.

Still I want to move one of the cameras on the smart plan from channel 6 to 7 . I still dont know how to do that.
I have disabled channel 6 smart plan from the camera, the NVR stills sees 6 . I guess I need to try if I get IVS triggers from 7 now that 6 is disabled..

Like I said in my first post

Set up smart plan and associated IVS rules on #7, disable it on 6

Hit save/refresh on both

Reboot NVR
