I have spent this past week getting my initial camera up and running this week and streaming 7*24 to YouTube for the wife's goat website. The stream is an acceptable quality but I am trying now to add some 'scheduling' to the stream to turn it off overnight.

I am currently using OBS (surprised to see zero mentions of OBS in these forums, any reason?) to stream but if Blue Iris which I see is popular here can do what I need I am totally open to switching.

I ideally want to stop the stream at 6PM and restart at 7AM. It is pointless streaming at night and simply eats up bandwidth.

It seems that OBS has an advanced scene switcher which MIGHT allow me to switch between the live video and an image placeholder for overnight hours.

However, does anyone know whether OBS allows me to reduce the stream rate suring those hours? i.e. stream at 8k whilst streaming video but drop significantly for the image. Or, indeed whether YouTube has capability that allows me to switch a static image in overnight.

Is Blue Iris broadly speaking an equivalent to OBS studio??

Any help much appreciated.
