Search from recordings & activex

Hello,

I have old windows7 laptop that I'm using to download recordings from my DHI-NVR5216-4KS2. To do that, activex is required.




At least that functionality does not appear with my linux laptop and chrome or firefox.

I need a new laptop for that job, but what would be the latest windows that still support activex and have been tested to work with my nvr?

You just need to use Internet Explorer that is still baked into the latest Win11.

And that functionality, that is shown on picture, still works?

Yes, the first time you pull up thr NVR it will ask you to download the file from the NVR.

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:

• Open Notepad:
  • Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
  • CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
  • Save as OpenIE.vbs
• Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
• Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer
• Download any of the plug-in the NVR or camera asks for.
