Hello everyone, I'd like some input from where to start with the trial&error settings for treshold and sensitivity in motion detection. My goal is to detect anything from small animals(cats, dogs) up to humans or any other bigger object. Sometimes I leave my garage open and wanna have the entrance covered. The only things I don't want to be triggered by are rain, snow, bugs and sun/shade. The cam is a DH-IPC-HFW1430TL2-A. The NVR is a 4216-EI. Here's a pic with the zone I wanna set up motion detection on. Thank you in advance. ipcoutdoor.jpg

Thats a low end camera using a 4MP lens with a 1/3" sensor, so don't expect much, especially at night unless you have a lot of ambient light.

The camera has no AI/IVS so you're resigned to using old fashioned MD which by nature is prone to false alerts

Each scene is so different I don't think anyone can really tell you, but I usually start with 80 sensitivity and 15-20 threshold.
Vehicle lights and shadows will be your biggest problems

Considering its job is to record only 3-4 meters away, I thought the cheapest would do the trick. There is not much going on at night as it's in a closed yard of two apartment blocks. The NVR has the AI/IVS stuff, I didn't know the camera also need that feature to be usable. The alert will be set only 4 recording, I'll set the camera inside to alert me on my phone if someone somehow breaks in (very unlikely).WhatsApp Image 2024-12-03 at 18.54.12.jpeg

Sorry I missed the NVR part. Ok then if your NVR has AI/IVS, why not use that instead of MD which is prone to a lot of false alerts

If you have an AI NVR the camera does NOT need to have it. I’m just saying you’ll be far better off using IVS

All right, I am trying to set up the IVS, it won't let me draw anything, I tried on Opera,Chrome, Edge , nothing........ I also tried IE but it switches to EDGE, I tried some tricks 2 prevent that but none work anymore, I have w10.........what options do I have?bc796457-1fec-4ae3-8602-e32167484321.jpg

Because you're trying to do it on the NVR instead of the camera

Login to the camera itself and make ALL settings and changes there.

Ooppsss apologies. Had two threads confused.

Sure sounds like a browser issue Full IE or try Pale Moon 32, both work pretty well. You clicked the 'Draw Rule" button first?

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  1. Open Notepad:
  2. Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
  3. CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
  4. Save as OpenIE.vbs
  5. Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  6. Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer
  7. Download any of the plug-in the NVR or camera asks for.

Yeah I've tried both IE (allowed all needed plugins )and Pale Moon x32 still nth, I click on draw rule but I can't draw jack $hit:rolleyes: I've noticed my camera doesn't have the IVS feature like the NVR so I'm thinking maybe both have to have it in order to work!? image_2024-12-07_211923565.png
