Set Time Date Text To Automatically Change Based On Background Color?

I sold my house a couple of years ago. Rebuilding a system.

I had a mix of Hikvision and Dahua cameras. I know at least one brand had an option (or maybe it was automatic) to change text color based on the background color. If in shady area it would be white, if later it was sunny, it would be black, or a mix of the two when sunlight poked through tree branches.

I now only have Dahua cameras. I've searched through the camera menu but can't find an option to do that.

I looked through Blue Iris to no avail.

So two questions:
1. Is this an option for Dahua cameras, if so where is the setting?
2. Is it better to have the camera embed the time/date, rather than Blue Iris.

Thanks.

Varies by camera. Some have nothing. Seems like I recall some trying to do it automatically in the same way. Some have the option to set font attributes and you can choose black/white/colors/outlines but I don't think it changes automatically depending on background. The option's usually in the same section there within overlay settings.

There was a performance penalty for having BI do the overlay since it required re-encoding but I'm pretty sure that was changed at some point and no longer applies.
