Im just north of Tampa FL and we lost power after milton for 18 hours. I have a generac whole house generator. It ran just as advertised. After the power came back all my cameras seemed to be working. I am viewing the cameras with security spy on the mac. I turned on the monitor today to check things out and I see 6 of my cams failing to connect. I have 2 other cams that were installed the week before the hurricane and they are the only ones working. I tested the poe switch it's working. I tested a couple of cable runs and they passed. The config tool lists all the cameras but I can't access them at all.
Is there anything I can try before taking them all down and trying to reset them?

Are all of the cameras plugged into this same PoE switch?

Are you using an NVR?

What brand are the cameras?

"Failing to connect" could be due to lack of power, it could also be the result of network configuration issues. Looks like you've eliminated a couple of the cables via testing. Do you know for a fact your config tool rescanned the network for devices? Try a free utility like angry IP scanner to corroborate what the config tool sees.

In addition to the questions from @bigredfish, did you add the 2 new cameras or did someone else perform the work?

I’ll add you should do some basic validation to see what the results are:

Ping: Send a single ping and see the results. Follow up by running a continuous ping what are the stats?

Web: If the cameras have an internal webpage can it be accessed vs not showing up?

Routing: Confirm all cameras are assigned the correct IP Address. Which you should have documented to help identify and avoid IP Conflicts.

Power: If the hardware can show the power consumption and voltage. What are they and is it within the minimum range?!?

POPO: Hard shutdown the entire system. Unplug all cameras and then power up the system. Once up add a single camera to see what the results are. Keep adding until complete or when a problem is seen.

Start there . . . :thumb:

Did you assign unique, static IP addresses to all of the cameras?

Thanks for the help.
I installed all the cameras myself.
cameras have been up for 1-2 years and have been fine to the power outage.
ive taken 1 (dahua) cam down and reset it. I can read its config but can't access it over the web or change its ip.
Im going to remove another cam, check the cable and attempt the restore.
Angry ip will only find 1 ip cam with a scan from .1.1 to .4 .200, all my cams are on 192.169.4.xx due to the eero router base being 192.168.4.1.
all cameras are set to static ip's.
A hard shutdown was done a few times, no changes.

Might sound silly, but it won't take too much of your time. Try performing 2-3 factory resets in a row.

Thanks for all the help. Ive found out that the 2 cameras that work are on a 255.255.255.0 subnet. I initialized the other cams using this. Turns out they will only work on 255.255.252.0. Any ideas what would cause this. Ive always used 255.255.255.0.?

That is an odd characteristic, however only slightly unusual in my experiences. Glad you were able to isolate the issue... are you able to change the subnet mask to something else?

Are they all Dahua cams?

I go

I got them all working again, I had to reset every one of them and re initialize them on the bench then reinstall and re aim.
It was a good time.
