Hi all. I have a 250GB SSD primary drive (C:/) with a 3TB purple series HDD for my BI. Looking at some articles, I am concerned running the video collection on the C:/ SSD as it appears is at a risk of an early failure due to the constant writing. From the research I have done, ideally it would be best to have a separate SSD for video collection, and then write that to the mechanical HDD as needed. Looking up on my Asus P9x79 motherboard, it has a feature to set up SSD disc cacheing on one (or even 2) of the mechanical hard drives by installing an SSD on a dedicated SATA port (specifically identified as for HDD caching). My thought is I would direct all BI activity out to that "HDD" since the SSD should be able to keep up, and not even use the C:/ for video collection. Am I flawed in my thinking? I cannot set up a separate SSD for BI as I have used all the available SATA slots for other drives. I'd welcome input and thoughts from the gurus and wizards!
