Storage Confusion after PC restart

Can't seem to understand what is happening here. After my PC restarts, the external drives immediately show up in the GUI in BI as OVER ALLOCATED. Now right before the PC restarted, everything is fine and there are no over allocation popups.
The drives are only used for BI, and when the PC shut down, obviously no files were written to the drives. Tried repair DB and it took days. Totally unacceptable. It appears that BI is showing the files it wrote itself are classified as other files and unrecognized. What the hell
is the issue? I checked to see if after the Pc restarts, the drives aren't reassigned drive letters and that is not happening.

Does it calm down after a few minutes?

I have noticed with newer BI versions that if I restart the computer or BI, it will throw those things initially, almost like it defaults to show errors and as the drives spin up it all settles down.

No. Its been about a few hours and it still is an issue. Really don't get why BI doesn't recognize BI files. The Grey files should be Blue. (in the storage section)
It also happened on older versions.

Update: Contacted support and the answer was to make sure the DB is on the local drive. It was so I just eliminated one of the 2 externals and used the local drive for new files. Basically this problem is unfounded. Don't use external drives is my hypothesis.
