Hello everyone,

I am dealing with a malfunctioning Eyes.sys NVR, with only 3 ports operational, which has left my other 5 IP cameras without power. I believe my cameras operate on 15 volts. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I've tested a few other PoE switches that I have on hand, but unfortunately, none of them have worked.

I had also purchased a replacement NVR, but it turned out to be a 12V unit and did not work with my 15V cameras. Given this, I would prefer to find a switch as an alternative to purchasing a new NVR, since I can easily obtain switches for free. However, I am unsure of what I might be doing wrong or what specific type of switch would be compatible with my 15V cameras.

I am seeking recommendations for a switch that would be suitable in this scenario, or any insights on what I might be overlooking in my attempts to resolve this issue.

Your expertise and suggestions would be immensely appreciated.

For reference, here is a link to the newer model of my setup: 8pcs 2.8mm Lens 4K ColorVu Audio PoE Dome 8MP Camera System.

Thank you in advance for your help!

FYI, compliant 803.3af/at POE is not 15VDC.

The external power supply for the NVR: what DC output voltage is printed on its case?

P.S. - Welcome to IPCT!

OK, so if the cameras get their power from the NVR over the Ethernet cable then they are non-standard (not 802.3af/at compliant POE) and a compliant POE switch or POE injector will not power those cameras.

Those cameras likely need passive power of 15VDC applied to 1 pair (4 positive & 7 negative or 5 positive & 8 negative ) or 2 pair (4/5 positive & 7/8 negative) of the 4-pair Ethernet cable to power them up.

BTW, 802.3 af/at POE voltage can be between 44 and 57VDC and is negotiated between a compliant power source ("PSE") and a compliant powered device ("PD"). Lots of info here if you find yourself unable to fall asleep one night ==>> Power Over Ethernet Wikipedia
