I am not associated with Synology in any way, I don't even have Synology NAS at the moment, but it sounds interesting so I might purchase one of these devices
It could be kind of win-win because it can be NAS and NVR at the same time, with many additional features like VPN server...

Nice order, Mike :)

Looking forward to hearing about performance, RAM, ... using multiple mp cams. With cam detection and syno detection.

I wanted to put SS 6.3 on my 211+ already, but it needs DSM5. Want to do a full back-up first. Don't want to take chances.

Great to hear we now get a second license free of charge. Guess they decided to listen to the feedback after several years and provide a bit better value. Now we just need the multi-pack license to become a bit of a value-pack ;)

PS:
Between the different solutions I have looked at online (reviews, videos, ...) and the couple I have tried: on camera Foscam, Axxon Next and Surveillance Station 6.2. Surveillance station is pretty straightforward, fast to setup and easy to use as well as review footage. Not to say it is without faults or can't be improved. If I had a very fast NAS or Syno released some better hardware, it would be a no-brainer for me to go with a new DS. As it is with a bit older and slower DS, not too many hardware improvements in DS, I am exploring options and keeping my eyes and ears open ;)

Will link you here to: http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewforum.php?f=82 as well, which is the syno surveillance forum. On the front page you'll see some complaints and issues about 6.3. The "how could ss be improved" thread is one of those threads where you can catch up on a bit of history and improvement request.

I am using Version: 6.3-3380 (2014/11/11) of Surveillance Station. I cannot get Live View nor Timeline to work. The Preview link just brings up a blank pop-up window. I have spent the better part of a day trying to get this resolved. I have finally submitted a ticket on this. The camera does record, does detect motion. The only way I can look at the results is to use File Station to browse to the saved videos and open them up in Windows Media Player or the like.
