Testing POE Switch

So I have a POE switch and waiting for my camera, is there a way to check if my switch actually works? Meaning can I connect my switch to my BI server and somehow ping or test a port on the switch , I am just little eager to test before my camera arrives .

Plug something into it and connect to your network and see if you can access it. Not real exciting. ; ) You can make sure that it at least powers up and is basically functioning at least I guess.

If you have something else POE powered you can try that.

If an managed switch, then you can keep yourself busy for a while playing around with the settings and diagnostics.
