I've been playing a bit with a TiOC 2 alarm output with a view to trigger other systems. Does anyone have experience of using alarm outputs from TiOC cameras in anger? Specifically, what's the best way to joint them to run them over a longer distance given the relatively small cable diameter?
Generally the alarm outputs are low current capable outputs. You are best off using them to drive a relay, with appropriate ratings on the contacts, to handle any load at all. If you use an optocoupled relay the loading on the camera is very minimal, as in microamps, and it will work over longer distances reliably since the load is so low.
