TPU vs GPU

I would like to add a TPU to my new machine that I'm building and would like to know how well they work in general. I know a GPU just works but I like the fact that TPU costs less to buy and is cheaper to run on a daily basis. If you have or had a TPU, what are your thoughts on them, any input would be appreciated.

The general consensus, or appearances, are that the USB version of TPU should be avoided.

The other issue is it appears the models are not as good.

There also seems to be more issues posted here of people running GPU instead of the CPU version of CodeProject

The other question is do you have cameras with built-in AI and if so, that is probably sufficient for your needs.

So I guess the question is why do you feel the need to add one? Is your system maxed out at 100% CPU or do you simply think you need one?

My camera's do not have AI built in so CP is a must. With my new setup, I would like to try LPR and face recognition and I figured a TPU or a GPU would be helpful. With my current setup, the CPU pegs when the sun goes in and out behind the clouds and figured the new machine would do the same thing.
