Hi - I bought a SD49225XA-HNR years back from Andy through the forums and finally I got a chance to now set it up.

This is the setup I have at this time in terms of connection:

AT&T Internet
|
Unifi Switch (192.168.0.1)
|
Lorex Fusion NVR (10.1.1.1)
|
5 Lorex Cameras, 1 X SD49225XA-HNR, and 1 X IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED

Now within the Lorex NVR and Mobile app, I can see all cameras they were all discoverable after I entered the password for the two non-Lorex cameras. The app works great in terms of it's basic functionality.

The IP address of the Lorex Fusion NVR is 10.1.1.1 which is different from the main switch that is at 192.168.0.X -- I understand the NVR is assigning it's own IP addresses based on my research.

Within the Lorex setup, I see the Device List and the blue 'E' icon that allows me to access the camera directly. I can do that for the T5442 but cannot do that for the SD4995XA-HNR. Both of them have the 10.1.1.X IP but when I open the blue 'E' the T5442 opens and maps to like an local IP such as 192.168.0.119 -- which is great.

Except when I click on the blue 'E' on the Dahua SD4995XA-HNR it just opens a blank pop-up. I have no idea how to reach the camera directly to see what features/settings it has that would benefit me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

That is an issue with graphics compatibility issues with Lorex and some cameras.

Sometimes it can be resolved with using Internet Explorer (yeah we know but it is still available) or Pale Moon.

But sometimes even that doesn't work.

My neighbor experienced the same thing with a different model PTZ from Andy and a Lorex NVR.

We had to disconnect it from the NVR and power with an injector and connect to computer and change the computer to the 10.x.x.x subnet to see the camera and make changes and then hook back up to the NVR.

He got tired of that and recently purchased a new NVR from Andy and now he can access all his cameras with the "e" icon.

Thanks -- so i was using Safari on a Mac. Will try a windows laptop tomorrow.

I would go with another NVR but due to the mobile app, even though it's not great - it's a nice convenience with Lorex.

Now, I do know this model I bought had auto-tracking/etc. which was subsequently disabled by Dahua and frankly since I purchased it this is first time I'm using it - so did not do a firmware update. Wondering if I can benefit from that feature so wanted to access the PTZ settings to explore and on top of that adjust picture quality/etc.

I don't recall the tracking portion being able to be setup at the NVR level and then passed to the camera, so you would need to get into the GUI for that.

Thank you - so I will post the solution here in case it helps anyone.

I was getting a blank pop up with no page loading, now I tried the same in Chrome. The site failed to load but at least i found the internal IP which was something like 192.168.1.XX:ZZZZ

The port number being the ZZZZ. Now because it would not load in Chrome, I tried FireFox using the same IP that I now discovered with port and got this error :

This address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. Firefox has canceled the request for your protection.

I then followed these steps This address is restricted | Firefox Support Forum | Mozilla Support to allow the port, re-tried and now am in the GUI of the PTZ camera.

Now I just need to figure out where is the tracking option in the GUI :)

Unfortunately that PTZ track time will default to 15 seconds for any browser other than Explorer, so you may still need to go a different way to access it (unless Firefox fixed it in version updates).

Here is how to set up tracking:

You need to set up a preset.

Then you need to set-up the Smart Plan with Deep IVS for the presets you want to track.

Then go to Deep IVS Rules Config page and you should see Track Time under alarm and Tracking Target size slider.

When setting up IVS rules, I strongly recommend you use intrusion box with appears and crosses instead of tripwire. And less is more. One IVS rule.

Leave min size as 0,0

Make sure that Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off.

I repeat, make sure Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off LOL.

Thanks - I was able to find a PDF that Andy has on this forum around tripwire but I will use your recommended settings. Firefox was allowing to setup a time, so I set it to 30 seconds as in the PDF.

Now, a quick clarification question. The Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection you are referring to should be turned off in the Dahua GUI settings and also in Lorex Mobile app? Or just in the Dahua GUI?

See if the 30 seconds holds. In the past it wouldn't if you logged out and logged back in or after a reboot.

You do not want MD or SMD turned on anywhere for the camera - it only tracks based on IVS rules.

In general, no camera settings should be set in an app - only set thru GUI. The app should only be used for viewing and playback.

We have seen weird things happen sometimes if the NVR and camera are not communicating properly. It is better for the settings to be set and pushed from the camera rather than the NVR.

Thanks, yes the changes held. What is recommended for Alarm Track, Record Delay and Relay Out?

Record Delay I put in 30 before it was 15

Relay Out I left as 10

Alarm Track is 15

I turned off Motion Detection and Smart Motion as recommended, pleasantly it also reflected in the Lorex App once I viewed it there. I did keep enable notification turned on in Lorex, I am hoping it notifies me if it captures that activity in terms of tracking.

Wow that is great to hear on track time.

Record is only if you have an SD card in the camera and is how long it records.

Relay and Alarm are if you have attached a siren or light to the camera and how long you want them to go.

So you can leave them default or disable (can't remember if it has that option).

So my only thing I’m wondering now is how do I get notified on the Lorex app once the rule triggers and records?

I didn’t get any notification this morning when it did trip the rule that was set. I am wondering if I just need to enable vehicle and person detection on the Lorex mobile app

I do know auto tracking is working as I caught it live when a car came in but it would be great if there is a recorded clip notification as well

Would need NVR that supports your cameras ivs settings to send alerts and or record. If nvr has an alarm in could use cameras alarm out to nvrs alarm in to start recording and send an alert.

Yeah I don’t think the Lorex NVR is that capable or maybe I haven’t found it yet — by turning off motion detection it takes away from the notification alerts so figuring out how the ptz ive rule can work to notify

Yeah, that NVR just may not have that capability.

With a capable one, you can set up notifications per IVS rule.

Thanks I am wondering if I can buy Blue Iris and get it to work that way. Do you think it is possible?

Lastly now somehow I don’t know what I may have enabled today but Lorex app is notifying as an alert ‘aiunknownarea’ alert but without any screen capture. I suspect that is through the camera some sort of notification being pushed.

Last question if I enable person and vehicle detection in the mobile app - any concerns there? I know you had recommended to turn of motion and smart motion on the camera.

BI can as that is what I am doing.

That unknown area alert must be something to do with the issues between the camera and NVR that is isn't sure how to process that.

I guess you could give it a try. Lorex "dumbed it down" for the consumer so that they can just check a few boxes instead of per IVS rule per camera. I think as it relates to the app, that is just pulling which one is person or vehicle and not actually using MD or SMD. Now the question is does the error above cause the app to not know it is a person or vehicle.

I guess try it and see!
