i'm using 5.3.3 ? so i'm using 5.3 why can't i use 5.4? is there a reason ? is what i'm asking

- - - Updated - - -

it says Please follow the steps to upgrade: V5.2.0->V5.3.0->V5.4.0

Skipping intermediate versions in upgrading may cause unpredicable problems.

There was no v5.2.0 for your camera, so maybe you should think what the message says. You can update it if you wish, there's always a chance you might brick the camera. I'm not sure why you'd want to though.

Let me word it better or you're going to end up bricking your cameras for no logical reason.

Don't be a dingbat and update it unless it's broken.

i always got told keep it updated! i so want to say this buy Hik really need to make there systems more easy to just update! and offer support easy! cameras are connected to the internet i don't want someone looking at me using my own system! i think i just pull the plug from the back of the nvr soon so people don't check what i'm doing in my own back yard! to i might pay to get a good firewall!

Based off that last post, you should not be attempting to update anything.

There's enough info on these forums and advice about not updating.

based on this that you wrote in your first post:

"English Version IP Camera V5.3.3 Multi Language DS-2CD2342WD-I"

I think that your camera is not a real English version. So I would advice not to upgrade it . unless you are sure about your serial number on your camera ?
