There may be some confusion as the steps required to upgrade the Longse RoboCat LRDC60S500 5MP IP camera; this post is intended to help those who may be having trouble with the upgrade procedure.

There are two (2) steps to the upgrade...

  • Step 1: Installing the new firmware
  • Step 2: Installing the new web component to enable the new user interface
WARNING: I have applied the new firmware on two (2) LRDC60S500 camera, both times with success -- however -- users are warned that it is possible that upgrading the firmware on your camera may render it inoperable...this is called "bricking" your camera. Be advised that flashing your camera with new firmware has the potential to ruin your camera, so please be careful and undertake this procedure only if you are confident in your abilities.

Now that you've been forewarned here is the procedure...

1) Download the archive I've posted at the very bottom of this post and extract it to a folder on a local drive.

2) Open Internet Explorer 11 and browse to your LRDC60S500 camera's IP address.

3) In the camera interface login page enter your camera's "User Name" and "Password" and press the "Login" button (Note that the login account you use must have camera Administrator privileges).

4) Navigate to the camera's "maintenance page" as shown in the "IPC upgrade operation.pdf" (Unfortunately I can't tell you the steps to navigate to this page because I've updated both of my cameras to the new interface...but it's in there and you'll find it).

5) Click on the "Scan" (Chinglish for "Browse") button and browse to, and select, the "3516A_IMX178_W_6.1.25.3.fls" file which is located in the extraction folder you created in Step 1.

6) Click on the "Upgrade" button and sit back while the new firmware is written to your camera. DO NOT interrupt power to your camera during the upgrade countdown or pain and suffering will be brought upon your house. After the upgrade procedure has completed the camera will probably reboot and you will probably be presented with the camera interface login page again. There is no need to log in again.

7) Shutdown all Internet Explorer browser instances.

8) Navigate to the extraction folder you created in Step 1.

9) Right click on the "HsWebPlugin.exe" executable and then left click on "Run As Administrator" and complete the installation of the "HsWebPlugin.exe" executable.

10) At this point I would reboot the LRDC60S500 camera (either by logging into the camera and rebooting it from the camera interface or but interrupting power to the camera).

That's it! You should be done and when you log back into the camera you should be experiencing the new "Hikvision-Like" user interface!

Good luck and, if you have any problems please contact Alastair, Nayr, Klasipca or one of the other members who know what they are doing...not Qlueless Q!

Opps! I neglected to thank (and give all the credit) to @klasipca for finding this new software and then sharing it with us in his "Low Light Destroyer" topic. Many thanks and much gratitude brother!

Do you think this could resolve in any way, the no signal and just overall poor image quality?

Carnac says! Maybe.

Ironically, as the manufacturer told me that my PC processor and memory was insufficient..... Ive had the S500 in the garage, out of the extreme heat and it hasnt displayed the no signal problem. Its been 23 hours now. My thoughts are the POE part is crap and isnt made of quality components. If only there was a way to replace it with something better.

Q you seem to like this IMX178 cam more then I do :)

Frankly, I am more into Huisuns. The PTZ function just trumps everything else out there.

Don't get me started on another camera lol! My next will definitely not be from over-seas. Customer satisfaction means nothing to distant suppliers.

@klasipca Yeah...I gotta get me one of those...after my next two (2) Longse cameras come and get tested. Hopefully -- by then -- they Huisun v3 will be released, eh?

Klasipca, have you had any issues with the Huisun when the IR is on and trying to pan, tilt or zoom at the same time? Saw a review that said the camera had issues with this. Side note.. it is sold on Amazon. If I get it and have issues it can be returned.

This is the "Upgrade proceedure for the 5MP Longse RoboCat LRDC60S500" Topic. Please start your own topic if you want to discuss Huisun. :)
