Looking for a way to add Cameras not from Axis brand that feed to the Axis Companion Recorder that has 48v POE connections. Anyone tried this without blowing up their 12v camera?

the POE port specs appear to be standardized. according what im seeing on that .PDF.
so you wont blow up a POE cam.
If the cam is 12VDC only, Not sure.
ieee standard POE switches will negotiate a "power/no power" condition to a new device.

^^^ Correct, 802.3af/at - compliant POE won't apply power to a non-POE camera's RJ-45/Ethernet so he can use a POE-to-12VDC splitter to power the camera, assuming it has a standard 5.5mm X 2.1mm barrel connector for the 12VDC.
