Using iVMS-4200 to remotely connect into my home network?

Hi, thanks for reading my post. From my home i run x2 ANPR cams without any nvr or dvr and view them on my browser locally so my 2cam setup is as simple as that. It all works satisfactory on 3 setups either using HIK Connect (on phone) or the iVMS-4200 software or as mentioned just using my browser locally. I have a family member who lives elsewhere who wants to access my cam streams using either their browser (or the iVMS 4200) on their pc and am a bit confused about what might be a simple way of doing this.

I can only imagine 2 ways how I might go about this, I've listed them below if anyone can give me a steer please?

1/ My remoted family member would prefer using a browser to connect so i assume i would need a fixed ip address/ port forwarding and maybe also a VPN to help with those things and to keep me secure if i've understood how this correctly.
I imagine they would then access my cams in their browser with my WAN IP Address/the local address and then a port number, maybe somethting like this for example: https://80.253.625.**/192.168.1.**:800 ?

2/ This second way using the VMS-4200 HIK software I like the sound of but am not sure exactly how that works. I was thinking if the remote user had iVMS-4200 prog on their PC could they simply enter the serial numbers of my cams and connect to my cams as simply as that and by pass all the ip/port/vpn stuff? I read that was possible so was looking for any feedback from someone that might use the VMS software and give me a steer if i'm right or wrong please.

thanks. Sean

The answer was provided in your other thread. Whether it is you or family members, the response is the same...

Port forwarding will get you hacked. Use a VPN you host like OpenVPN or one of the other services suggested in your other thread.

thanks for the responses, my question was really aimed at someone who might be using iVMS-4200 for help but thanks for re-iterating those things. I apreciate the link to iVMS-4200 by the way. It can be a bit of a maze at times!
