Verifocal to Fixed Focal

Doing some test placements using an HDW5231 and trying to see if a fixed focal would work at each location. What I can't tell is the current lens setting. I've looked at overlay settings and other places and can't seem to find the current focal length listed in the GUI, if it even exists there.

So, do I simply do the basic math using the zoom slider and correlate that to the 2.7-13.5 (midpoint ~5.4)? I assume the slider is linear based on the response I can see.

I've gone the low-tech way of making different pie-shaped cardboard cutouts for the different field of view angles, then just looking with my eyes at the camera location.

3.6mm = 135
6mm = 500

I own a varifocal starlight and a couple of 3.6 mm fixed. The 3.6 is indeed very close to 135 on the 5231. I've also tested with my DSLR, and looking up the AOV online for various focal lengths, the 6 mm number is very close too. Keep in mind that the 2.8 mm fixed is wider than the 5231's widest AOV by 13 degrees.

Where are you folks getting #'s from in the zoom (i.e. 135, 600,...)? I have a slider with a speed setting. That's all I see on my 5231's and 2231's?

I believe you'll see the current zoom level when you hover your mouse over the zoom marker. (I don't have a 5231 plugged in now to verify)
